Safety on Halloween night

  • Daylight saving time ends the next morning, Sunday, Nov. 1. Sunset on Oct. 31 is still early evening, so carry a flashlight or glow sticks after dark.
  • Walk on sidewalks and cross at corners. Where there is no sidewalk, walk facing traffic.
  • Check treats at home before children eat them.
  • Drivers: slow down in neighborhoods from late afternoon, and watch for children crossing between parked cars.
  • Report anything suspicious to the Columbus Police Department at 706-225-3205, or call 911 in an emergency.

What this means for you

  • No official neighborhood hours yet for 2026; check back before Oct. 31.
  • The free Uptown Boo Bash is a week early, on Saturday, Oct. 24.
  • Halloween is a Saturday this year, so daytime events at Westville and the Naval Museum are an option for younger children. The Civic Center’s evening event needs an RSVP and an adult 21 or older with anyone 17 or under.
