Buena Vista Road at the Spiderweb
GDOT’s project record for this stretch of Buena Vista Road describes the work as realigning an existing five-leg intersection, carrying Buena Vista Road over the railroad and rebuilding its bridge over Bull Creek. The city adds roundabouts at Illges Road and Ace Way Drive, and at Morris Road and Ace Way Drive. The city asked drivers to use caution near the closure and the detour routes.
State projects in Muscogee County
GDOT’s GeoPI database has the full list; search by county. Two regional projects funded through the Transportation Investment Act (TIA) are the ones Columbus drivers will notice:
- I-185 at Old Cusseta Road: a new interchange, a center turn lane on Cusseta and Old Cusseta roads, a roundabout at Old Cusseta and Cusseta, a signal at the southbound ramps, a roundabout at the northbound ramps, and sidewalks. The I-185 bridge over Old Cusseta Road is being widened for the southbound on-ramp, and Farr Road moves east. GDOT listed it as 90.19% complete on Oct. 6.
- Buena Vista Road from Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to St. Marys Road: the Spiderweb work above.
Coming up: County Line Road at Manchester Highway
GDOT will hold a public open house from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, at the Psalmond Road Park Recreation Center, 6550 Psalmond Road in Midland, according to a city release. The proposed project would replace the County Line Road bridge over Manchester Highway (U.S. 27 Alternate and Georgia 85), add roundabouts at the interchange ramps and expand the roundabout at Mehaffey Road. Comments are open through Nov. 20 on GDOT’s public outreach page, project number 0019517. Our story on both projects has the details.
Coming up: Williams Road
GDOT held a public open house on Sept. 10, 2026, on proposed safety and operational improvements to Williams Road from I-185 to Frank Houser Avenue, according to the city Planning Department. The online comment period closed Sept. 25. No construction date has been announced.
