Camps and programs

  • Spring Break in the Garden: in 2026 the Columbus Botanical Garden, 3603 Weems Road, ran a ticketed children’s morning program each day of the district’s break, March 31 to April 3, with themes such as nature prints, eco-engineering challenges, Mud Pie Day and honey bees (2026 listing). The 2027 sessions are not posted yet.
  • Columbus Parks and Recreation lists its programs and takes registration on its online WebTrac site, linked from the Parks and Recreation home page.
  • Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center, 3535 S. Lumpkin Road, holds Spectacular Science Saturdays with free nature play and paid programs such as Little Naturalists for ages 4 and 5 (March 2026 listing).

  • Coca-Cola Space Science Center, 701 Front Ave.: open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday and 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, closed Sunday. Children under 3 get in free with a paid adult. Parking is in the front lot, along Front Avenue and in the public deck between the Trade Center and the center (center site).
  • National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center, 1775 Legacy Way, outside Fort Benning: free admission with a suggested donation, open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. It has a Giant Screen Theater and virtual reality combat simulators (museum site).
  • Whitewater on the Chattahoochee: Uptown Columbus says the RushSouth whitewater course offers family-friendly low-flow rafting trips in the morning and class III to V high-flow runs in the afternoon, plus guided kayak tours, a treetop zipline course and a disc golf course (RushSouth page). Whitewater Express, 1000 Bay Ave., runs Chattahoochee rafting trips (Whitewater Express).
  • Columbus Botanical Garden, 3603 Weems Road, open Tuesday to Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., last entry at 4 p.m. (hours page).

What is open

Spring break is not a city holiday. City offices, libraries and METRA buses keep normal schedules; the Columbus Public Library at 3000 Macon Road is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Thursday (library hours).
